Laser Cut Note Box
Duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy
Pricing: $125 Per Person
Group size: 8 – 50
Description: Give your desk a touch of style with a custom-designed wooden notepad box! Each person on your team will come up with a unique design, prepare it in our laser cutter software, then laser cut and etch their own custom box.
What you’ll learn:
You’ll learn basic design skills to turn a drawing or digital image into a unique design. Learn about laser cutters and watch your design emerge as our 90-watt laser blasts your design into a one-of-a-kind notepad. All materials needed are included in your event, including notepad box, paper, and assembly materials.
What to expect: After a brief tour of the Makerspace, you’ll dive into a 35-45 minute workshop to set up your design on our laser cutter software, with instructors ready to help with any questions and offer advice. Then, you’ll watch our laser cutters etch and cut your designs in real time!
*Note: for larger teams, there may not be time to etch every design during your event. We will etch any remaining designs after the event and they will be available for pickup or shipping within the week.

Lasers & Coffee
Duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy
Description: Design a tumbler featuring a favorite quote, image, or hand-drawn design, and etch it onto a powder-coated, double-walled 16 oz coffee tumbler.
Each person on your team will come up with a unique design, and together we’ll learn how to prepare it for the laser cutter. Your team will get to watch as our 90 watt laser blasts away the powder coating to reveal your design on the shiny steel underneath.
Next, you’ll dive into a workshop (35-45 minutes) to learn how to set up your design on Lightburn, the software that runs our laser cutters. You can download a free 30-day trial of Lighburn here and get instructions on how to set it up here. We’ll all create a design together, and then you’ll create your own. Use your free design time to find images online, design something unique in the software, or draw by hand with pen and paper. Your instructors will help with any questions and offer advice.
When your design is complete, you’ll email your file to the staff-operated lasers. You can watch the magic happen as your design is etched into your masterpiece in real time.

After the event, we’ll clean up your tumbler with rubbing alcohol to make it positively shine.

Collaborative Artwork
Duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Description: Paint a laser-etched skyline of Seattle with your team with guidance from an artist, and take home a custom art piece for your workplace!
Your team will paint the sound, sky, and Seattle Skyline with guidance from our resident artist. Each panel is painted separately and brought together to form a collaborative art piece. We will frame and deliver your piece, which can be produced in various sizes.
Pricing: $125 Per Person. Minimum of 8 People.
Team T-Shirts
Duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Description: Collaborate with your team to print your own t-shirts!
Choose one of our stock designs, provide your own logo, or develop custom artwork by working with our in-house illustrator. Whichever route you choose, each person will leave with their very own hand-printed t-shirt with a spectacular design. The event will begin with a live demonstration and explanation of the screen printing process. Then participants will step up to do it themselves at one of four printing stations. Other activities await the rest of the team including sculpting with 3D printing pens and touring other areas of the makerspace.
Pricing: $125 Per Person. Minimum of 8 People.

What is the maximum group size that Seattle Makers can accommodate?
The maximum group we can accommodate at our in-person events is 50 people.

Do we need design or computer experience to do the team building events like Lasers & Coffee or Laser Notes?
Nope! If you have no design background, we do a short design primer at the beginning of these events to teach you how to use Lightburn, an open-source design software. If you’re not comfortable on computers, you can draw your design by hand and we can convert your design into the right format for you.
