These memberships cover the needs of most folks who use the makerspace. We understand there are a lot of special circumstances; if these options don’t work for you, check out our financial support options or contact us to discuss your unique needs.
Have more to give to the community? Check out our “Above and Beyond” membership plans.
* Note: Our insurance covers youth makers aged 8-17 with supervision by a guardian. Guardians need a membership or guest pass to use be in the space. If you have any questions about memberships for youth, call us at 833-2-MAKE-IT.
** Note: some tools and equipment require certifications before they can be used unsupervised. Seattle Makers offers certifications for the laser cutters, 3D printers, and wood CNC mill. For dates and more information, check out the Seattle Makers calendar. Most tools and equipment are free, and the machines that are priced per minute (with variable pricing) are: laser cutters, 3D printers, wood CNC mill, metal CNC mill, and vinyl cutter.
† Note: Machine time credits do not roll over to the following month or accumulate.
†† Note: Machine time is unlimited as long as the machines are available on the scheduling calendars. We ask that members with unlimited machine time not monopolize a given fabrication machine for an entire day at time.

Financial Support
We have created several ways you can use the makerspace at reduced rates.
Maketeer Program
Our Maketeer Program is for people who want to be a part of a community and offer their skills and expertise to support the space. The program is designed to train and develop Maketeers in each area of the shop so they can assist members as well as help with the general operation of the makerspace.
As a thank you for volunteering 4 hours a week, Maketeers are gifted a free “Maker” membership (which includes a $120 machine time credit for use on personal projects), and free certifications on all our fabrication machines.

Membership Scholarship Program
At Seattle Makers, a key feature of our mission and values is making MAKING accessible to everyone. Our Scholarship Program covers the cost of membership for folks who are economically disadvantaged, including students, low-income folks, and retirees.

Resident Maker Program
Our Maker in Residence program is designed to bring those dream projects within reach. The program provides an infusion of financial and material support to a local maker, enabling them to finally make that prototype, tackle that new invention, or innovate on an existing product. We provide a membership scholarship, studio space, and material scholarship to help our Resident Maker get their idea off the ground.
