Premium quality leather hides, quarter hides, and pieces for your next project, sold by the square foot!
You can find our leather offerings in the sewing room downstairs (in long boxes right under the craft supplies shelving area) and we currently have four types of leather:
Suede is a type of leather with a fuzzy, rough finish, commonly used for jackets, shoes, fabrics, purses, furniture, and other items. Suede is made from the underside of the animal skin, which is softer and more pliable than the outer skin layer, though not as durable.
A chrome-tanned leather is simply leather treated with chromium salts to give it a reddish-brown colour. This process creates a durable, water-resistant finish that makes chrome-tanned quality leather ideal for outdoor use, including boots, luggage, and jackets.
Garment leather is a type of leather specifically designed for making clothing and related items like garments, gloves, jackets, and linings. It’s characterized by its thinness, lightweight nature, and soft, supple feel, making it comfortable to wear and easy to work with.
These are oddly-shaped pieces typically left over from larger projects, perfect for starting a small project! Our miscellaneous leather scraps come in all kinds of sizes, colors, finishes, and types so ask a Maketeer or Staff member to confirm the price of your piece!
Each piece will be individually marked with it’s approximate square foot measurement. Prices shown are for each square foot of material. Ask a Maketeer if you need assistance pricing your leather!
