Sewing Mutual Aid – Cooling Neck Wraps

Join WashMasks Mutual Aid for our first event at Seattle Makers! Join us in protecting farmworkers from heat stress. The goal is to deliver hundreds of cooling wraps to farmworkers across the state. They’re simple to sew — if you can do a straight stitch on your sewing machine, you can make these! Even if you can’t sew with a machine, you can make kits for future sew-alongs.

Find more info and preview the simple pattern at: https://www.washmasksmutualaid.org/sewalongs
What we will provide:
  • Use of our classroom domestic sewing machines
  • Pre-cut fabric selection
  • Hydrating beads (via WashMasks)
Please bring:
  • Long fabric scraps – quilting cotton works well. The pattern requires rectangular strips of cotton, cut at 4.5 inches along the entire bolt (usually 44″).
  • Your sewing machine
  • Thread, scissors, pins, clips, rulers, small notions

WashMasks Mutual Aid is a sponsored partner of Omprakash. Omprakash is a tax-exempt non-profit organization registered under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tax ID# 20-8655418
