Sewing Machine Basics

Learn how to confidently use a sewing machine – from threading and bobbin winding to mastering basic stitches. Walk away with the skills to start your own sewing journey!

The “Sewing Machine Basics” introduces students to the parts and functions of a standard sewing machine. It covers how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, and adjust basic settings like stitch length and tension. Participants will practice stitching straight lines, zig-zags and simple seams on fabric. We will also practice sewing in a loop and understanding basic hemming. No experience or outside materials needed!

Whom it’s for: Anyone aged 8+ (youth 8-16 must have a guardian present). No experience necessary. New sewers welcome!

What we’ll provide: Sewing machines, thread, scissors, pins, and fabric.

What to bring: A can-do attitude!
