Do you want to add some interactivity to your next project? Join us for Arduino 101! In this introductory class you will learn how to use the Arduino IDE to upload code for a simple circuit that controls some LEDs. More importantly, we’ll show you how to find all the resources you need to learn how to build more complicated projects yourself.
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs – light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending it a set of instructions in the Arduino programming language using the Arduino Software (IDE). Over the years Arduino has been the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments, by a worldwide community of makers – students, hobbyists, artists, programmers, and professionals.
Who it’s for: The only pre-requisites for this class are basic computer and text editing skills; no prior programming or electronics experience necessary! Minimum age: 10 y/o (ages 10-17 require a guardian present).
What you should bring: You may bring your own computer with the the Arduino Software (IDE) already installed.
What we will provide: The class includes an Arduino starter kit to take home and continue experimenting! We also have laptops available to borrow.
Stay for Robotics 101: Multi-tasking right after Arduino 101 to keep the learning going!
