3D Printing 201: Advanced Printing & Slicing Techniques

This is the certification course to use the Prusa XL.

The Advanced 3D Printer Certification course is designed to equip makers with a comprehensive understanding of sophisticated 3D printing techniques and settings. Participants will explore how various aspects affect print aesthetics, such as color painting, infill techniques, and layer settings, with practical applications including coasters and vase mode designs.

The course also delves into the functional aspects of 3D printing emphasizing strength and engineering precision through shells, line width, and combining infill strategies. Students will learn about the intricacies of material interactions, such as TPU and PLA, and the use of soluble supports, along with advanced modifications of STL files, like adding holes for heat set inserts, and bases.

Additionally, the curriculum covers the nuances of multicolor versus multi-material printing ensuring that participants are well-versed in both the artistic and technical elements of advanced 3D printing. Finally, the course will certify makers to use our advanced 3D printers for single color/material or multicolor/multimaterial use.

Pre-requisites: Completion of the 3D Printer Certification at Seattle Makers. This class is open to members only. Learn more about how to become a member here.
