Advanced Sewing Techniques

** Note: this event will be held in person at the makerspace. Read our Covid-19 requirements for attendees here.

Want to up your sewing game, but find the language on how to finish garments confusing?  This class will level up your sewing by going over:

  • French seams for lightweight/delicate fabrics
  • Bias Tape seam finish (aka Hong Kong seam finish) for unlined garments or bulky fabrics
  • Installing an invisible zipper while matching seams

Your instructor will go over each technique before you sew it yourself.

What you get to take home:  Samples of each technique to reference!

Whom it’s for: Anyone aged 11+ (youth 11-16 must have a guardian present) who has taking the Sewing Machine Basics course OR has sewn something in the recent past.

What we’ll provide: Sewing machines, thread, scissors, and materials (incl. Fabric, binding, zippers, etc.)

What to bring: A can-do attitude!

Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance. To check availability within 24 hours of this event’s start time, call 833-2-MAKE-IT.
