Want to up your sewing game, but find the language on how to finish garments confusing? This class will help demystify installing zippers and buttons, as well as seam finishes that will level up your sewing!
You will learn how to make buttonholes, how to attach buttons with and without a shank, how to install a coil (closed end) zipper and an invisible zipper. If there is time, we will also cover different seam finishes and when to use them, including serging, zig zaging, Hong Kong, and French seams.
Your instructor will go over each technique before you sew it yourself. We will be making sample pieces approximately 4×6 inches in size.
What you get to take home: Small samples of buttonholes, buttons, zippers, and seam finishes that you made!
Whom it’s for: Anyone aged 11+ (youth 11-16 must have a guardian present) who has taking the Sewing Machine Basics course OR has sewn something in the recent past.
What we’ll provide: Sewing machines, thread, scissors, and materials (incl. Fabric, binding, zippers, buttons etc.)
What to bring: A can-do attitude!
