Woodshop Test Out

Skip the classes—show your skills. The Woodshop Test Out is a much faster and more affordable option to get certified on woodworking tools for experienced woodworkers who don’t need full instruction. Sign up if you are already comfortable using:

  • Table Saw
  • Miter Saw
  • Track Saw
  • Drill Press
  • Small Band Saw
  • Hand Router
  • Random Orbital Sander
  • Belt Sander

During this session, you’ll demonstrate safe and confident use of each tool under the supervision of a trained proctor. This is not a class or tutorial—no instruction will be provided—so please come prepared to show your skills.

If you’re confident with most tools but still learning one or two, no problem! You can skip the test for specific tools and take a separate class on them later. Certification will be granted only for the tools you demonstrate competency with.

Whom it’s for: Woodworkers with significant prior experience using the above tools. Participants should have several woodworking projects previously completed using each of these tools.

Minimum Age: 18 years old minimum

What we’ll provide: Safety equipment (googles, ear plugs/muffs, & dust masks) and stock wood.

Requirements for attire:

  • Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required at all times in the woodshop.
  • Tie long hair/beards back.
  • Please refrain from wearing loose clothing, especially around the torso and arms, and remove accessories if possible (rings, bracelets, long necklaces, etc.). Exceptions made due to religious or cultural practices
  • Personal safety equipment (safety glasses & ear muffs) are encouraged. Seattle Makers will provide this if you don’t have them.

Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance. To check availability within 24 hours of this event’s start time, call (206) 659-1726.
