Toy Maker 3: Resin Casting

Would you like to learn how to make custom toys for the holiday season? Become a version of Santa’s Elves and make something unique is holiday season!

This class is part of our Toy Maker Series! In this three part series, we’ll be prototyping your toy designs, making molds, then casting toys from resin. Part I is the prototyping phase where you’ll sketch then physically sculpt your idea. Part II will cover using silicone to make molds from your prototype. Finally in Part III we’ll use the molds we made to cast our toys out of resin. The series will take place over 3 months with a new course offered each month. Attendees can sign up for single classes or the whole series. Class prices include material fees.

In part III of the Toy Maker Series, we’ll be casting with resin. Using the silicone molds we made in Part II, we’re going to cast our toys! Didn’t come to the other classes in this series but want to learn casting? No problem! We’ll have a few extra silicone molds for those interested. You’re also welcome to bring a silicone mold you already own.

During this class attendees will learn how to prepare their molds for casting. We’ll go over adding dyes and small objects to your cast, how to mix and pouring techniques. The resin will take 24 hours to cure, so attendees are welcome to leave their casts at the makerspace and pick up during the following week.
