Would you like to learn how to make custom toys for the holiday season? Become a version of Santa’s Elves and make something unique is holiday season!
This class is part of our Toy Maker Series! In this three part series, we’ll be prototyping your toy designs, making molds, then casting toys from resin. Part I is the prototyping phase where you’ll sketch then physically sculpt your idea. Part II will cover using silicone to make molds from your prototype. Finally in Part III we’ll use the molds we made to cast our toys out of resin. The series will take place over 3 months with a new course offered each month. Attendees can sign up for single classes or the whole series. Class prices include material fees.
In part II of the Toy Maker Series, we’ll be making silicone molds. Moldmaking is a common process used across fabrication industries for many of the products we use today. In this class, attendees will be using prototypes from Part I OR the object of your choice (approximately 6” x 6” x 6”) to make custom molds. Once you’ve made a mold of something, you can cast it again and again!
During class, students will learn all about the moldmaking process before making a mold of their own. We’ll go over how to size their mold, box construction, mixing and proper pouring techniques.
