The Maker Meetup – Custom Bleachwear!

Come hang out with other makers and make a custom t-shirt!

This is a monthly opportunity to get to know your fellow Seattle Makers tinkerers, crafters, inventors, and artisans in a fun and relaxed environment.

This month’s project is making a custom t-shirt by using a Cameo/Cricut machine to cut your pattern out of vinyl, and then using that as a stencil to bleach the pattern onto a shirt.

There will be snacks available and an activity planned. Feel free to take part in the activity or just hang out and socialize.

Please bring:

  • A pre-washed, black, 100% cotton t-shirt
    • We have a very limited number of black t-shirts available for $5, but these will shrink when they are washed the first time
    • Other dark colored t-shirts also work, but black is typically best.
    • Other articles of clothing also work
  • A simple pattern to bleach onto the shirt
    • Roughly 6”x6” if you want a logo on the chest.
    • Avoid very sharp corners and details smaller than 2mm across. Try and avoid having lots of small pieces in your design.
    • The moon t-shirt in the attached photo is a good level of complexity to aim for.
  • Optional: Something hard to stick the “negative” of your pattern onto, e.g. a phone case, tablet, laptop
  • Recommended donation of $5 for non-members
