Sewing Machine Basics – Tote Bag

Curious about sewing but have found the task daunting? This class will demystify the sewing machine and set you up for sewing success! Come join us at Seattle Makers and make this reversible tote bag!

You will learn the components of a sewing machine, terminology, operating a sewing machine, threading a machine, bobbin winding, clipping curves, and top stitching.

Your instructor will go over the sewing machine components before guiding you through machine operation. You will first practice using the machine without fabric and then we will make the tote bag.

What you get to take home:  Your custom tote bag!

Whom it’s for: Anyone aged 8+ (youth 8-16 must have a guardian present). No experience necessary. New sewers welcome!

What we’ll provide: Sewing machines, thread, scissors, pins and fabric.

What to bring: A can-do attitude!

Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance. To check availability within 24 hours of this event’s start time, call (206) 659-1726.
