In this introduction to the free and open source KiCad software, students will learn how to translate an electronics schematic into a printed circuit board, using the Atari Punk Console synthesizer/noise-maker circuit as an example. Students will leave with a working Atari Punk Console design, and the knowledge to design their very own circuit boards. 

What you’ll do: Students will follow along with the instructor to learn the basics of KiCad. We’ll walk through the process of schematic capture, board layout, and how to order your finished board design from a fabricator. 

Whom it’s for: Anyone who wants to learn how to bring their own electronics design or idea to life! Some electronics knowledge is helpful, but we’ll cover everything you need to know to get started.

What we’ll provide: Laptops and tutorial files. 

What to bring: If you’d like, you can bring your own computer (KiCad runs on most platforms).
