Ever wanted to make your own pottery tools? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore how to create custom clay tools using 3D printing and laser cutting, starting from premade files or your own designs. Our instructor will demo steps involved in live tracing an image shape into a vector file. We’ll talk about what makes a good tool and how you can access these fabrication tools at Seattle Makers. Take your finished tools home with you!

What you will create: 1-2 custom laser-cut tools to use when throwing or hand building with clay

Who should sign up: Individuals age 15+ with clay experience, looking to learn new equipment and techniques for making custom clay tools

What we’ll provide: Instructions on how to start making your own simple tools + work time during class.

What to bring: Your sketchbook, closed-toed shoes, and long pants. This class will be taught in our computer classroom space and not in the clay studio.
