Ready, Set, Draw!

We are delighted to announce several drawing classes coming up at Seattle Makers. The classes will be taught by our friend, Gabrielle Abbot, an award winning, internationally recognized artist based in Seattle. Gabrielle’s work ranges from painting to drawing, installation and video. You may remember her from her incredible chalk drawing at the Seattle Mini Maker Faire (pictured below)

Holiday Portrait Drawing

December 10, 2pm – 5pm
Give a unique, creative gift this season with a photo-realist portrait made by you. Bring an image of a loved one, and turn it into an awesome artwork to save. Even total beginners can make a great drawing after learning the “grid” technique. This method has been used by artists for hundreds of years and is useful for creative projects ranging from illustration to mural painting. No experience necessary, all levels welcome. To reserve your seat in the class, go here. Discounts are available for members of Seattle Makers.

Drawing with Mindfullness

4-course series starting January 11, 6pm – 9pm
Drawing can be a form of meditation. When we learn to “see” with an artist’s eye, we also strengthen our mental focus. This course will teach creative exercises from the Fine Art and Buddhist traditions aimed at improving realist drawing abilities. Students will work with monochromatic materials as they practice the elements of drawing: composition, line, form and awareness.  No experience necessary, all levels welcome.  To reserve your seat in the class, go here.  Discounts are available for members of Seattle Makers.

Sketchbooking Outside the Box

Multiple dates
Most creatives keep a journal to record ideas and images. This workshop will teach multimedia techniques to take your journaling skills to the next level. Using collage, printing, textiles and painting, we’ll create multi-layered pages of beautiful art. You’ll come away with new skills that you can practice whoever your sketchbook takes you.  No experience necessary, all levels welcome.  To reserve your seat in the class, go here.  Discounts are available for members of Seattle Makers.
